Ball Valves Questions

Product information

Tell me the keyhole dimension of the key lock plate of 10UTB.

The keyhole dimensions of the key lock plates (stoppers) are as follows.

Tell me the difference among the full bore type, standard bore type and reduced bore type?

The bore types are classified as follows:
・ Full bore type: This type refers to a structure with which the inner diameter of the flow path becomes the same as the inner diameter of the pipe when the valve is fully opened and no resistance is added to the fluid.
・Reduced bore type: This type refers to a ball valve whose ball inner diameter is one size or more smaller than the nominal diameter of the valve.
・Standard bore type: This type refers to a ball valve whose bore diameter is one size smaller than the nominal diameter of the valve.

What are the differences between 10UTB and 10UTDZ?

The main structural differences between 10UTB and 10UTDZ are as follows.

Use condition

Is it possible to use a ball valve with a half-open state?

Do not use a ball valve with a half-open state. The seat will be damaged, causing leakage.
(However, ball valves for flow rate regulation are excluded.)

Is it possible to fully close a three-way ball valve in addition to switching the flow paths?

We have no product that can be fully closed with a three-way ball valve.
Please check the switching form in our product catalog, etc.

Vacuum condition

Tell me the specifications of ball valves according to the degree of vacuum.

Ball valves can be used based on the degree of vacuum shown in the table below as a guide.

We recommend the flange type, but please determine the use of the threaded type (standard product) based on your use record. (For the threaded type products, the specifications of the gland packing cannot be changed.)

Rating

Tell me how to use the rating. For example, a product called Eco Ball Z, which can be used up to 4.12 MPa up to 38°C and up to 0.98 MPa up to 150°C, can be used up to what MPa when used at 100°C?

It can be calculated by the proportional interpolation method.
0.98 + (4.12 – 0.98) x (150-100) / (150 – 38) = About 2.38 MPa

The calculation method is described in the catalog, so please refer to it.
In addition, an automatic calculation formula can also be used from our website.

Please check the rating of each product in the catalog before using it.

Up to what pressure can the model 400 valve be used?

“Model 400” indicates the pressure unit, PSI, in the United States and the valve can be used up to a maximum operating pressure of 2.75 MPa at room temperature (38°C or less).

Up to what pressure can the model 600 valve be used?

“Model 600” indicates the pressure unit, PSI, in the United States and the valve can be used up to a maximum operating pressure of 4.12 MPa at room temperature (38°C or less).

Up to what pressure can the model 800 valve be used?

“Model 800” indicates the pressure unit, PSI, in the United States and the valve can be used up to a maximum operating pressure of 5.49 MPa at room temperature (38°C or less).

Up to what pressure can the model 1000 valve be used?

“Model 1000” indicates the pressure unit, PSI, in the United States and the valve can be used up to a maximum operating pressure of 6.86 MPa at room temperature (38°C or less).

Flow direction

Does a ball valve have a flow direction?

A ball valve can be used for flow in either direction. However, please note that the flow direction is fixed in the case of a valve with a vent hole, and the side with the hole is the primary side.
