Automatic valves Questions

Product information

Tell me the opening at the time of shipment from the factory of pneumatic automatic ball valves.

Basically, double-acting types (B type / FA type) are shipped at the fully open position and the single-acting types (BS type / FAS type) are shipped with airless.
However, this is not the case when ancillary equipment is equipped with.

Tell me the opening at the time of shipment from the factory of electric automatic ball valves.

For electric ball valves, the 2-way valves are shipped at the fully open position and the 3-way valves are shipped at the rotation stop position in the counterclockwise rotation.

Use condition

Is it possible to constantly use an EKE type drive part with electric stroke on one side and spring return on the other side?

It is not recommended to use an EKE type drive part with electric stroke on one side and spring return on the other side, because the service life of the drive part will be significantly shortened due to the reduction in the repulsive force of the spring.
Please use it as an emergency shutoff valve or emergency relief valve.

Is it possible to use a small automatic valve outdoors?

Except for the electric automatic valves: ES series (Petit KELMO), the valve can be used outdoors. However, it cannot be used in an environment where it is exposed to direct sunlight or direct water spray, so please protect it with a roof, etc. For details (protection rating, etc.), refer to the catalog and each instruction manual.

Except for the pneumatic automatic valves: C series, the valve can be used outdoors. However, it cannot be used in an environment where it is exposed to direct sunlight or direct water spray, so please protect it with a roof, etc. In addition, depending on the installation posture, water may enter from the breathing port and cause problems. For details (protection rating etc.), refer to the catalog and each instruction manual.

Is it possible to swing the installation direction of a B type actuator and ball valve by 90 degrees?

We do not recommend posture change by our customers after purchase.
If you need to change the installation direction, please contact your nearest sales office.

Pneumatic automatic valves

What is the difference between single-acting and double-acting pneumatic automatic valves?

The double-acting type is a type that operates by operating pressure caused by air entering chambers A and B of the cylinder. The single-acting type is a type that operates by operating pressure caused by air entering chamber A of the cylinder and, in the other direction, the cylinder is returned by the spring force to operate.

What is the service life of a pneumatic automatic valve?

The durability of a pneumatic automatic valve varies depending on the use condition.
In our in-house tests, actuators have been tested 100,000 times, and valves have been tested 10,000 times. However, be sure to perform regular inspections during use to prevent unexpected accidents.

We provide the KISMOS (KITZ Smart Monitoring System) as a solution to prevent valve troubles. For details, please visit our website or contact your nearest sales office.

Electric automatic valves

What is the difference between an electromagnetic valve and an electric automatic valve? Also, do you handle electromagnetic valves?

A electromagnetic valve operates a valve with the electromagnetic force of a solenoid. On the other hand, an electric automatic valve operates the valve with a motor and gears.
Electric automatic valves generally have a longer actuation time than electromagnetic valves due to use of a motor, so they have the advantage of being less prone to water hammer.

We only handle electric automatic valves that use motors, and do not handle electromagnetic valves.

If a power failure occurs while an electric automatic valve is operating, what happens to the operation of the valve?

Basically, an electric automatic valve stops at the valve opening at the time of power failure. However, only in the case of a spring-return type electric automatic valve, the valve is closed at the time of power failure. Please contact us if you want to use a spring-return type electric automatic valve to be open at the time of power failure.

Which products are the successors to the discontinued EK series / EL series electric motors?

The successors to the EK Series / EL Series are the EX series. Since the product specifications differ between the EK series / EL series and the successors, wiring change / additional works may be required to replace and use them.
For details, please refer to “About precautions regarding replacement of EK / EL series → EX series products” in the EX series instruction manual.

Why a space heater is required?

By using a space heater for the actuator, it is possible to lower the internal relative humidity* and prevent internal condensation.
Please note that the EX series must be kept energized at all times.
* Relative humidity (%): A measure of how much water is contained compared to the amount of saturated water vapor (the maximum amount of water that can be contained in air at a certain temperature)
