To solve the water crisis during disasters, a water purification system was installed in Wajima City to provide water for daily use.
We sincerely extend our deepest condolences to all those impacted by the Reiwa 6 Noto Peninsula Earthquake and mourn those who have unfortunately lost their lives. We further pray earnestly for the swift recovery of all affected communities.
KITZ Group(comprised of KITZ Corporation and Shimizu Alloy Manufacturing Co., Ltd.) has installed one “Aqua Rescue” portable membrane filtration devices at the Wajima City Monzen Children’s Center (4-20 Oniya, Monzen-cho, Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture) . In Wajima City, water supply restoration work is progressing rapidly. However, there are still water outages in the area, even three weeks after the earthquake.
Based on the emergency support agreement in the event of a disaster, two employees went to Wajima City to set it up. The spring water flowing through the gutter (Photo 1) was taken in, stored in a raw water tank, and then treated with Aqua Rescue. The purified water is used by residents as water for flushing toilets, daily use, and laundry. (The water is offered at the Wajima City Monzen Children’s Center.)

The raw water is brownish, but the turbidity and pigment contained in the raw water have been removed by membrane filtration treatment at Aqua Rescue (Photo 3).
In order to confirm that the raw water has been purified, we use a measuring device to inspect the turbidity* and chromaticity** of the raw water and purified water as a voluntary inspection.
* Turbidity: How turbid the water is.

According to the tap water quality standard items by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, among the water quality standard values (51 items) suitable for drinking, the values of turbidity and chromaticity are as follows:
[Turbidity] 2.00 degrees or less, [Chromaticity] 5.00 degrees or less.
The raw water showed a value of turbidity: 21.01 degrees and chromaticity of 40.51 degrees (Photo 4), but the purified water showed a value of turbidity: 0.00 degrees / chromaticity of 0.00 degrees (Photo 5), confirming that it met the standards.
