High pressure valve series for hydrogen refueling stations

KITZ’s ultra-high pressure hydrogen valve was developed using the core sealing technology and material development technology that KITZ has worked over its long history.
Ball valves have extremely low-pressure loss among all types of valves.
The Kitz 98MPa hydrogen ball valve has a wide flow path and a straight structure to achieve large flow control. Opening and closing operations can be easily performed with a 90° rotation method. In addition, Kitz’s proprietary sealing technology employs a special DLC coating to achieve excellent durability.

Overview

KITZ has realized an ultra-high pressure hydrogen valve using a ball valve. It features a high Cv value and high sealing performance due to its wide flow path and straight structure. It is suitable for hydrogen stations for large vehicles due to its excellent fluidity control at large flow rates.

Ball seats can be selected to suit your application

Metal sheet

: Due to the symmetrical structure, there is no restriction on the flow direction. (Allowable leakage amount: less than 10cc/min (at 20,000 operations))

Soft seat

: Realizes high sealing. (Allowable leakage amount: 0.0cc/min (at factory shipment), less than 0.3cc/min (up to 20,000 times))

Excellent durability

A special DLC coating is applied to the seat to withstand the high load (surface pressure) generated by 98MPa of fluid pressure and to not damage the ultra-precision machining of the stem/ball and seat, resulting in excellent durability. 

Designed for maintenance

In consideration of maintenance, it is adopted a direct mount method to attach the actuator directly to the valve body. The actuator can be easily installed even after the valve is connected, improving work efficiency during construction and maintenance. In addition, the rectangular design of the valve body saves space and helps secure workspace.

Needle valve

  • Excellent sealing performance: To prevent galling and scratches during sealing due to the valve body moving up and down while rotating, a non-rotating needle method is used to ensure excellent sealing performance.
  • Shaft packing structure for reliable sealing
  • Piping straight structure: The height of the connection part with the piping is the same on the primary and secondary sides, making piping design easy.

Check valve

  •  Unprecedented high-flow in-line check valve: The flow path diameter is φ6.4, which is the same as the 9/16″ 40,000psi specification piping inner diameter. Achieved a Cv value of 1.1.
  • Excellent valve seat sealing performance

Filter

  • High Cv value achieved by element design with improved fluid passage area
  • Achieves high pressure resistance due to the adoption of wire mesh elements. Designed to prevent element breakage and component peeling

Exess flow valve

  • The excess flow valve installed in outlet of storage vessel, tank unit and hydrogen supply equipment. It automatically throttles the valve when the hydrogen gas flow rate exceeds the set flow rate.
