KITZ SCT Corporation (hereinafter “KITZ SCT”), a group company of KITZ Corporation, have introduced an on-site solar power generation service for private consumption (PPA model*¹, hereinafter “the service”) at its main plant, Nitta SC Plant with Urban Energy PV LLC (hereinafter “Urban Energy PV”), a subsidiary of Tokyo Century Corporation (hereinafter “Tokyo Century”), as part of its efforts to reduce CO2 emissions. The operations have commenced today.

【KITZ SCT Nitta SC Plant（Ota, Gunma prefecture）】

The service involves Urban Energy PV undertaking the initial investment necessary for the installation of solar power generation equipment, allowing KITZ SCT to introduce a solar power system with “zero initial investment”. The equipment was installed on the roof of the new factory building at Nitta SC Plant, which was built to increase production capacity last year. By utilizing the renewable energy electricity, produced annually at 590,514kWh from a 375kW capacity equipment, it is expected to reduce emissions by approximately 256 tons annually in the first year.

In this service, Urban Energy Corporation (hereinafter “UEC”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of JFE Engineering Corporation, a plant engineering manufacturer with extensive operational experience and reliable technical expertise in renewable energy power plants, will be responsible for the operational and maintenance tasks.

The KITZ Group have formulated the Long-term Environmental Vision “3ZERO (Triple Zero)*²” and have promoted CO2-free electricity procurement at our key sites. As a result, we hit our CO2 reduction rate (80% reduction compared with the FY2013 base year), which was to be achieved by FY2024, a year ahead of schedule. Additionally, for FY2024, we revised ou1r CO2 reduction rate target upwards to 90% and are pursuing measures to achieve carbon neutrality by the year 2050.
